Constitution Day: Panel Discussion Features Two C.W. Post Professors

Two professors from the C.W. Post College of Liberal Arts and Sciences will participate in a Constitution-themed panel discussion, “We the People,” on Wednesday, September 20, 2006. Speakers include Jeremy Buchman, assistant professor of political science and Neal Rosendorf, assistant professor of history, as well as Leo Callaghan of Long Island University's Homeland Security Management Institute and Michael Hogan, Associate Dean of C.W. Post’s School of Education.

The event is sponsored by the new Student Affairs-Faculty Partnership Initiative Committee (SAFPIC) at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University. SAFPIC is a group of C.W. Post faculty, administrators and students working together to develop lectures and forums that heighten students' awareness of the world around them

SAFPIC will lead C.W. Post's recognition of Constitution Day, a 10-year national effort to make the Constitution better known and better understood. "We the People" will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Top of the Commons and feature a faculty panel exploring common misunderstandings about the Constitution, the Patriot Act, free speech and the right to dissent, and U.S.-international policy.
