Dr. Jessica Hayes Appointed Acting Director of
International Student Services at C.W. Post
Dr. Jessica Hayes of Brookville, director of Residence Life at C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University, has been named acting director of International Student Services. She will hold both positions, effective September 1, 2006.
As Acting Director of International Student Services, Dr. Hayes will oversee immigration and programming issues for a rapidly growing population that currently includes 500 international students from 50 countries who study at the C.W. Post Campus. She will manage immigration regulations matters and provide assistance to international students in the areas of cultural adjustment, socialization and academic progress. Dr. Hayes will lead and enhance several new departmental initiatives, such as International Education Week, community service programs and academic and personal development workshops.
Through her position as Director of Residence Life, in which she oversees C.W. Post's 10 on-campus residence halls and nearly 2,000 resident students, Dr. Hayes has developed a considerable understanding of international student services. She has contributed to orientation programs, collaborated on residence life programs, and coordinated arrivals and housing assignments of incoming international students.
"Dr. Hayes is a highly talented and versatile professional educator who will bring energetic, innovative and expert leadership to the critical mission and goals of International Student Services," said Dr. Sherri N. Coe- Perkins, Associate Provost for Student Affairs.
Prior to her current roles, Dr. Hayes was Associate Director and Assistant Director of Residence Life and a well-regarded instructor for College 101. She has also worked with the Division of Student Affairs, on issues involving alcohol awareness, electronic information and civility, and as a course instructor for the division's Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention course. She has chaired the Student Life Cohort and has been an integral member of the Student Affairs-Faculty Partnership Initiative Committee and the Student Advisory Committee.
Dr. Hayes is a C.W. Post graduate, with a Bachelor’s degree in Speech and Language Pathology and a Master's degree in School Counseling, She earned a doctorate in Educational Administration last May from Dowling College.
