A Conversation with Nelson DeMille at C.W. Post
Famed Author to Discuss New Book, Wild Fire

Best-selling novelist Nelson DeMille will visit the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University for a book signing and conversation on Monday, November 13, 2006 at 7:30 p.m. at the Tilles Center for the Performing Arts’ new atrium.

The New York Times best-selling author will host a discussion and question-and-answer session about his characters and how he researches his novels. Afterward DeMille will talk with guests individually as he signs copies of his newest novel, “Wild Fire.” Proceeds from the event will benefit C.W. Post student scholarships.

“Wild Fire” features detective John Corey and his wife, FBI agent Kate Mayfield, who are embroiled in an all-too-plausible conspiracy to detonate a nuclear bomb in two major American cities. Published by Warner Books with a release date of November 6, Wild Fire was recently reviewed by Publisher’s Weekly as a "tour de force of relentless narrative power [that] neither stops nor slows for twists or turns, but charges straight ahead in the face of danger.”

DeMille is a New York City native who spent his childhood on Long Island and has set several of his novels in the region. He studied at Hofstra University before joining the Army and attending Officer Candidate School. A commissioned Second Lieutenant, he served in Vietnam as an infantry platoon leader with the First Cavalry Division. When he returned to the States, he completed his studies at Hofstra and received a degree in political science and history.

DeMille's first major novel was “By the Rivers of Babylon,” published in 1978 and still in print, as are all his succeeding novels. Other classics by DeMille include “Plum Island,” “The Lion’s Game,” “Night Fall,” “The Gold Coast and The General’s Daughter,” which was a major motion picture. His novels “Word of Honor” and “Mayday” were television movies.He is a member of The Authors Guild, the Mystery Writers of America, Poets & Writers, and American Mensa. He holds three honorary doctorates: Doctor of Humane Letters from Hofstra University, Doctor of Literature from Long Island University, and Doctor of Humane Letters from Dowling College.

Admission is $55, which includes the purchase of “Wild Fire,” Long Island wines, light refreshments, coffee and desserts. Reservations are required by November 7. The C.W.
