Girl Scouts of Nassau County to Honor
C.W. Post Adjunct Professor Margaret Stacey
Brookville, N.Y. – Margaret Stacey, a scholar of communication theory, adjunct professor at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University and community leader with a lifelong connection to scouting, has been named the 2006 winner of the Girl Scouts of Nassau County’s Juliette Low Award of Distinction.
The award will be formally presented to Stacey at the Girl Scouts of Nassau County’s Annual Luncheon, Tuesday, Oct. 31 at 11:30 a.m. at the Garden City Hotel in Garden City, N.Y.
“Margaret Stacey is an outstanding contributor to Girl Scouts and to our community,” said Donna Ceravolo, the executive director of Girl Scouts of Nassau County. “It is a wonderful feeling when we are able to recognize and honor all that she has done, and show her how much we appreciate her efforts.”
Stacey has been a junior Girl Scout leader, a day camp counselor, consultant and public relations director and has been affiliated with Girl Scouts of Nassau County since 1980. She has held the position of vice president, served on the Finance and Negotiating committees and been active in programming, planning and fund raising.
In addition to teaching public relations at C.W. Post, she is an adjunct faculty member at New York Institute of Technology; a board member of the Family and Children’s Association and Women on the Job; an associate trustee of the Nassau County Museum of Art, and a member of the PBS Board of Friends of Thirteen WNET/WLIW.
Stacey has also been a professor at the University of Wisconsin, Madison and Marquette University. She holds numerous awards, including the Junior League of Long Island’s first Woman of Achievement Award.
