C.W. Post's
Korean Center Celebrates Harvest Holiday
A traditional Korean thanksgiving was commemorated recently at
the Korea Center of the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University
in Brookville, New York.
Students, faculty members and the executive members of the Long
Island Korean-American Association gathered together at the center
on October 6, 2006 to mark Chuseok, a festive holiday that celebrates
the harvest, much like the American Thanksgiving.
In conjunction with the observation of the Holiday, two visiting
professors from Yanbian University of China described the Chinese
education system and the lives of the two million Korean-Chinese
residing in China. The professors urged the students to study more
about China, especially its language, which would become valuable
for their future success.
The Korea Center works in close association with the Korean Alumni
and Student Associations as well as the Korean community, to help
Korean students studying at Long Island University adjust to the
American lifestyle and language, to overcome academic difficulties,
and to obtain tutoring services and scholarships. It also assists
American students who want to study in Korea.
The Korea Center is located in the Klar Intercultural Center at
C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University. For more information,
