4 Buns & 2 Hot Dogs, the New Improv Troupe of Post Theatre Company,
Presents “Our Backyards, Your Backyards”

Production to be Directed by Distinguished Improvisational Performer Trevor Davis

February 10, 2006 – Brookville, NY – Post Theatre Company, the not-for-profit resident theatre company of the Department of Theatre, Film and Dance on the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University, will present five performances by 4 Buns & 2 Hot Dogs, the company’s new improvisational theatre troupe. The Spring production, “Our Backyards, Your Backyards,” will run from February 10 to 17 at C.W. Post’s Little Theatre Rifle Range.

Improvisation is a form of theatre in which no script is used. Instead, the actors create the dialogue and action as they perform. In “Our Backyards, Your Backyards,” six improvisers present an evening of fully improvised short plays inspired by audience suggestions.  Every show is completely new and different. The Spring show will differ from the short, quick, comedy improv that was featured by the Post Theatre Company improve troupe in the Fall.  In “Our Backyards, Your Backyards,” the actors will be using long-form improv. Long-form provides actors with an opportunity present more complex stories and characters. These talented young actors will generate fresh new material at each performance – completely unscripted!

Trevor Davis, director of the improv troupe, has performed long form and short form improvisation for more than 10 years with such groups as ComedySportz Philadelphia, Freestyle Repertory Theatre, Middlebury Theatresports and the Pennsylvania Rennaissance Faire.  He has studied with Keith Johnstone (author of “Impro” and “Impro for Storytellers”) at his Loose Moose International Improv school in Calgary, Canada; with Jeff Wirth (author of “Interactive Acting”); and studied physical comedy with David Shiner (“Fool Moon,” “Cirque du Soleil”).  Over the past several years, Davis co-wrote and helped develop a script through improv on the subject of day jobs.  As an actor he has worked regionally with Bristol Riverside Theatre, Shakespeare and Company, Hartford Stage Company, Delaware Theatre Company, Philadelphia Theatre Company and in New York with Woman Seeking, Overlap Productions, LITE Theatre Company, The American Studio Theatre and others.
