More than 300 Teens Expected to "Speak Out" at C.W. Post Conference
March 29, 2006 – Brookville, NY – Teenagers from across Long Island are invited to attend the annual Teen Speak Out at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University on Thursday, April 6. Teen Speak Out is a conference that addresses issues of concern to today’s teenagers. Expert panelists will address topics including domestic violence, anger management, substance abuse, teen pregnancy, bullying and more.
All panel presentations are followed by a Q & A during which students interact with panel members and each other. In addition, the conference includes small discussion groups led by graduate students from the C.W. Post clinical psychology graduate program and high school peer helpers. Sessions will include:

In addition, students from Elmont and Sewanhaka High Schools will serve as Peer Helpers, as they perform original topical skits and facilitate role playing and interaction between participants and panelists.
Teen Speak Out is sponsored by the Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University. Additional support for the 2006 conference is provided by Liz Claiborne Inc., which will donate "stop the abuse" t-shirts, and brochures to all attendees, and the Avon Foundation, which provided resource materials.
Teen Speak Out will take place in the Hillwood Commons Lecture Hall on the C.W. Post Campus from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 6. Registration begins at 8 a.m. The participation fee is $16 per person, and includes a box lunch and beverage.
