C.W. Post Valedictorian Tara N. Mayernick of Shelton, Connecticut, a music education major, addresses the Class of 2006. C.W. Post’s 2006 Salutatorian is Stephanie Grice of Batavia, N.Y., who was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology and a Bachelor of Arts degree in chemistry. She starts medical school in the fall. Christopher Johnson, president of the Student Government Association.

Distinguished Alumni Awards are presented to Roland A. DeSilva (left) (Class of 1962), founder and managing partner of the investment bank DeSilva & Phillips, and Dave Ruvola (Class of 1981), the “Perfect Storm” helicopter pilot who survived a harrowing crash into the Atlantic Ocean and directed combat rescue operations in Iraq. Dr. Morimichi Watanabe, a C.W. Post professor of political science and history and one of the world’s leading authorities on the 15th century cardinal and philosopher Nicholas of Cusa, is awarded the Long Island University Chancellor’s Award for Distinguished Service.
