World-Famous Horticulturalist Allan Armitage to Lecture at C.W. Post
University of Georgia professor to discuss ‘Great Gardens of the World’ in
Hutton House Lectures scholarship benefit in May 2007

Brookville, N.Y. – Allan Armitage, one of the world’s foremost horticulturalists and a professor at the University of Georgia, Athens, will give a talk on “The Great Gardens of the World” in a special Hutton House Lectures scholarship fund-raiser in May 2007 at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University.

A recipient of the Garden Club of America’s Medal of Honor and the National Educator Award from the American Horticultural Society, Armitage travels widely as a lecturer and consultant. He is the author of numerous books, CDs and Internet gardening courses. Greenhouse Grower magazine named him one of the 10 most influential people in the floriculture industry. His “New Crop Program” has produced many introductions for the ornamental market.

Armitage will speak on Friday, May 18 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Lorber Hall on the C.W. Post Campus, 720 Northern Boulevard (Route 25A) in Brookville.

His talk will raise funds to provide scholarships for academically gifted mature students who are returning to college after having undergone various hardships. The donation is $125 before April 15, 2007 or $150 after that date. One hundred dollars of each $125 ticket and $125 of each $150 ticket is tax deductible. The benefit includes a cocktail hour with wine and hors d’oeuvres following the lecture. Attendees may also speak personally with Armitage after his presentation.
