Hutchins Gallery Presents LES PASSAGERS N.Y.
September 17-28

Brookville, NY – Artwork in various forms created by seven Korean-French artists who hail from Paris, France will be on display at the Hutchins Gallery inside the B. Davis Schwartz Memorial Library at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University. “LES PASSAGERS N.Y.,” a group exhibition by members of SONAMOU, one of the largest art groups in Paris, will be on display September 17 through September 28, 2007. The seven artists’ mediums include ink paintings, digital prints, sculpture, and painting with mixed media. An opening reception will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, September 19.

Artists:

Sun Cheol Kwun, founder of the SONAMOU Association, was born in South Korea in 1944. He has had numerous solo exhibitions in France, Korea and the United States. His expressive paintings of faces capture angst moments that every human being experiences in their lifetime.
Chang-Dawn Moon, president of the SONAMOU Association, was born in South Korea in 1960. He moved to Paris in 1985 and has had numerous exhibitions in Korea and France. The exhibition at the Hutchins Gallery will be his first in the United States. Since 1985 his artworks deal with the Cosmos, a subject he got involved in while working on a project at the Paris Conservatory.
Valero-Kim was born in South Korea in 1964. His work has been exhibited in Europe. His mixed media paintings express a complicated characteristic of naturalism and abstraction in human beings.
Chul Paek was born in South Korea in 1959. He graduated from the Higher National Diplome of Fine Arts and the École Nationale Supérieure in Paris. His semi-abstract paintings deal with memories.
Hyun Joo Choi was born in Seoul, South Korea, in 1967. He lives and works in Paris, France. His artwork has been presented in two solo exhibitions and more than 20 group exhibitions in the United States, Germany, France and Korea. His artwork deals with simplistic ideas, which could be a form of communication that is effective, convincing and distinguished.
I-Soeup Ryu was born in Ulsan, South Korea, in 1970. He received a B.F.A. from Keimyung University in Korea, and resides and has worked in Paris since 2000. The subjects in his paintings are usually house pets including goldfish and rabbits.
Mi-Hei Her was born in South Korea and works and resides in Paris, France. She creates her artwork by installing photographs of abstract buildings to actual buildings to play with the illusion of what is real and what is not.

Admissions to the Hutchins Gallery is free and open to the public. Gallery hours are Tuesday-Saturday, 2- 5 p.m. The Hutchins Gallery is located inside the B. Davis Schwartz Memorial Library on the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University, 720 Northern Boulevard (Route 25A), Brookville. The library has ample free parking and is handicap accessible.
