Confrontation Press, the Literary Publisher of Long Island University,
Publishes First Youth Title, ‘The Biblical Zoo’
‘Clearly written and delightfully illustrated’—Joan Goodman
Brookville, N.Y. – Confrontation Press, the literary publishing house of Long Island University, has published its first children’s book, “The Biblical Zoo,” a collection of 38 entries and accompanying original drawings of each animal named in the Bible.
Written by Laura Taubes and illustrated by Cabell B. Roome, “The Biblical Zoo,” is both an accurate informative treasury and a delight for the imagination that will prove of interest to readers of all ages but particularly the young student with interests in zoology, geography, religion and Biblical history.
Joan Goodman, a book critic for the Sunday Times of London, calls “The Biblical Zoo” “a perfect way to find fun and information while actually learning something about the history and importance of animals to our biblical ancestors. For the green-minded, it will reinforce an understanding of the interdependence of man and the environment from earliest times. Clearly written and delightfully illustrated, this is a book for all ages.”
Taubes is an educator with a lifelong interest in science and natural history. She has taught in private and public schools in New York and Connecticut and was actively involved in curriculum development and the improvement of science teaching in elementary schools. She lives on the Connecticut coast of the Long Island Sound.
Roome is a native Virginian currently residing in Northampton, Massachusetts. “The Biblical Zoo” is the first full-length book that she has illustrated.
“The Biblical Zoo” is available from major trade and library wholesalers, directly from Confrontation Press, and major bookstores and online booksellers. The cover price is $24.95. It is scheduled for release March 22, but advance orders are being taken.
