The exhibition places an unusually strong emphasis
on sculpture, with seven sculptors presenting works in a wide
variety of media, from the classical wood and bronze to modern
acrylic and welded steel.
Most families are relatively unfamiliar with the
beauty of sculpture,” said Daniel C. Brown, coordinator
of the Long Island Professional Artists Showcase and a sculptor
whose work will be part of the exhibition. “We believe this
exhibit will open visitors’ eyes to the excitement and satisfaction
of three-dimensional works of art.”
Paintings on display at the exhibit will be of equally high quality. Among the artists is award-winning portrait painter Marvin Mattelson of Great Neck, N.Y., who has painted more than 20 covers for Time Magazine and whose work hangs in the permanent collection of the National Portrait Gallery of the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. (Brief biographies of the artists follow.)
