Retired Criminal Justice Professor Patrick J. Ryan
Passes Away at Age 66
Dr. Patrick J. Ryan, a retired associate professor of criminal justice at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University, died on September 3, 2007 from coronary failure at the age of 66.
During his decade-long tenure at the C.W. Post Campus, Dr. Ryan taught extensively on criminal justice issues, especially the impact of organized crime. As an officer of the International Society for the Study of Organized Crime, Dr. Ryan networked with law enforcement agencies and academic audiences worldwide.
After retiring in 1998 from C.W. Post he moved upstate to his farm in Hobart, NY. He also served as town justice of Stamford, NY from 1998 to 2003, and until now Stamford town supervisor. Prior to joining the C.W. Post Criminal Justice Department in 1988, Dr. Ryan had a distinguished career as a detective sergeant with the New York City Police Department.
Dr. Ryan earned his B.A. degree from John Jay College of Criminal Justice, a M.S. degree from the City University of New York at Hunter College, and his Ph.D. from the City University of New York Graduate Center.
