C.W. Post College of Management Alumni Chapter Event
to Honor Outstanding Alumni and Support Student Scholarships

Brookville, NY – To celebrate the personal and professional successes of three of its alumni, members of the College of Management Alumni Chapter at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University will come together for a “Decadent Desserts from Around the World” tasting on Saturday, October 27 at the Top of the Commons. Robert E. Bertucelli ’70, ’74; Kenneth M. Brown ’75 and Charlie Prizzi ’96, ’00 will be honored for their outstanding achievements in the business world and for their contributions to the greater community.

The event will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Top of the Commons restaurant on the C.W. Post Campus where attendees will delight in live music and fine wine while watching award-winning chefs prepare an array of desserts. Proceeds from the event will directly fund student scholarships in the College of Management. More than $60,000 in scholarship funds were awarded to incoming graduate students this Fall.

About the Honorees:
The director of the C.W. Post Tax & Accounting Institute and full-time professor of accounting & taxation, Robert E. Bertucelli also owns his own accounting practice, Bertucelli & Malaga, LLP in Ronkonkoma. A CPA in the State of New York, as well as a Certified Financial Planner and a Chartered Life Underwriter, Professor Bertucelli lectures on the many areas of taxation for various professional and business groups. He has been recognized twice as one of the Outstanding Lecturers for the Foundation in Accounting Education and in 2001 received the Outstanding CPA in Education award from the New York State Society of CPAs. He is listed in “Who’s Who in America,” “Who’s Who in Finance & Industry,” and “Who’s Who in the World.”  He earned two degrees from C.W. Post – a bachelor’s degree in accounting in which he graduated magna cum laude and a master’s degree in taxation. He serves on the board of trustees of St. Charles Hospital in Port Jefferson.

The first president of the College of Management Alumni Chapter, Kenneth M. Brown served for 31 years as the president/CEO of the Margaret Tietz Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, the only nursing facility in the metropolitan to care for Holocaust survivors. After retiring last year, he started his own health care consulting business, KMB Consulting, Inc. An adjunct associate professor at the C.W. Post College of Management’s Health Care and Public Administration Department since 1995, he also is a member of the College of Management’s Executive Board of Advisors. For 12 years he was a member of the board of directors of the New York Association of Homes and Services for the Aging, chairing many of its committees, including the Political Action Committee, which he still heads. Professor Brown served as the chair of the Greater New York Hospital Association’s Long-term Care Division for five years and recently stepped down as president of the New York Health Care Alliance, presiding over 47 corporate entities for a six-year period. He holds a B.S. in psychology from the University of Miami and a master’s degree in health care administration from C.W. Post.

Charlie Prizzi is the chief development officer at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, a world-renowned cancer and neuroscience research institution based on Long Island. He has been at the laboratory since 2000 and is involved in raising funds to support its research and educational programs as well as endowment and capital funds. Mr. Prizzi serves on the board of the Thomas Hartman Foundation for Parkinson’s Research and the Don Monti Memorial Research Foundation. He was honored with the 2007 Special Humanitarian Award from the Order Sons of Italy in America Grand Lodge of New York. He received both his M.B.A. (finance) and bachelor’s degree (marketing) from C.W. Post. 

Comprising three outstanding schools - Professional Accountancy, Business and Public Service -the College of Management prepares students to perform competently, ethically and professionally in the public and private sectors. Home to the Financial Markets Center, the Center for Supply Chain Leadership, the Long Island Women's Institute, the Tax Institute, the Centers on Aging and Management Analysis, the College of Management is widely recognized as a valuable resource for research and information in the tri-state area.

The Business Program is accredited by the prestigious AACSB International - the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Students can earn a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with majors in finance, international business, marketing, management and management information systems. The College also offers the coveted Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree with classes conveniently offered on weekday evenings and Saturdays.

An integral part of the Business Program, the School of Professional Accountancy offers a bachelor's and a master's degree in accountancy, a master's degree in taxation as well as five-year accelerated B.S./M.S. in Accountancy and a B.S./M.B.A. in Accountancy. Students are placed in accounting jobs through career placement services while pursing their degree studies.

The School of Public Service offers an up-to-date undergraduate and graduate curriculum and incorporates the most advanced ideas on a broad spectrum of issues concerning criminal justice, security administration, health care and public administration, and social work. The Department of Criminal Justice offers the only B.S./M.S. degree that can be completed in five years on Long Island. The M.P.A. in Public Administration is the only degree program on Long Island accredited by the National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration and the B.S. in Social Work and Master of Social Work are accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
