Popular Education Professor Harvey Weil Dies at 79

Harvey Weil, an adjunct professor with the Department of Curriculum and Instruction in the School of Education at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University, passed away on Dec. 12, 2007 at the age of 79.

A popular and caring mentor for many students and faculty members, Professor Weil joined the School of Education in 1997. To prepare for his rewarding career, Professor Weil earned both his undergraduate and graduate degrees from the City University of New York at Brooklyn College.

An impassioned educator, Weil dedicated 54 years of service to the field of education. He served as principal at two New York City public schools from 1970 to 1983. He also spent 17 years working as an assistant principal and teacher on the elementary and junior high school level for several public schools. Weil joined the C.W. Post School of Education in 1997. A man of faith, Professor Weil also was a respected rabbi at the Congregation of Beth Israel in Hempstead.
