Dana DeBari Named Salutatorian of Class of 2007 at C.W. Post
Dana DeBari, 21, a resident of Levittown, N.Y. and an honors student majoring in speech-language pathology & audiology, has been named Salutatorian for the Class of 2007 at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University, campus officials announced today, March 7.
DeBari, who will be awarded the Bachelor of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology, entered her final semester at C.W. Post with a grade point average of 3.98 in a challenging, academically rigorous field of study. Her thesis focused on stuttering in preschool children and she is interested in working with young children in the future. She has maintained a full extracurricular schedule, serving as the president of the C.W. Post chapter of the National Student Speech-Language-Hearing Association. She also is a French tutor to her fellow C.W. Post students as well as a tutor in all subjects to local elementary school students.
For the spring 2007 semester, DeBari is engaged in a clinical practicum at the Association for the Help of Retarded Children in Brookville, N.Y., gaining hands-on experience working with children with disabilities ranging from Down syndrome to autism to cerebral palsy.
The salutatorian is selected by a committee comprised of faculty and administrators. The C.W. Post Campus’ 49th Commencement will be held on Sunday, May 13, 2007.
