Open House to be Held on Tuesday, March 27

Brookville, NY - From groundwater to global warming; from recycling to pollution: the awareness of earth health is a growing interest from both a scientific and human survival perspective. A new Master of Science degree in Earth Science at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University is preparing teachers, environmental leaders and others to manage community and natural resource concerns. This is the only degree of its kind on Long Island.

Prospective graduate students interested in learning more about this program can attend the C.W. Post Graduate Open House on Tuesday, March 27 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Hillwood Commons at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University, 720 Northern Boulevard (Route 25A) in Brookville, NY.

The 32-credit program includes courses in earth science and geology and includes electives that allow students flexibility in meeting certification requirements, their employer's needs and their individual intellectual interests.

The program, designed to be completed in two years, is designed for working professionals who wish to obtain an advanced degree in the field and teachers who hold initial teaching certification but need a master's degree to secure permanent teacher certification in the State of New York. The program may also benefit fully certified teachers who wish to expand their field of certification.

Faculty and advisors will be on hand to discuss the master's degree program, career opportunities, admissions and financial assistance. The event is free and open to the public. Those wishing to attend the Open House are asked to contact the C.W. Post Office of Admissions at (516) 299-2900.
