| Faculty Members Honored for Career Milestones at C.W. Post
Three professors mark 30 years of service, one marks 40
Brookville, N.Y. – Three professors celebrating 30 years of service and one marking 40 years on the faculty will be honored during the 49th commencement exercises at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 13.
For four decades, Jeffrey Corey, Ph.D. has educated C.W. Post students in psychology, teaching courses in education, behavior modification, behavior science and science fiction, applied behavior, the psychology of humor, instrumentation and theories of learning. He has introduced new courses, served as a consultant to the Suffolk AHRC Deaf-Blind program and served as an editorial consultant on instructional materials for Random House publishers.
Dr. Corey has been a member of the board of editors for the Journal of Personalized Instruction and for the Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis. He has published numerous articles and has presented papers exploring various aspects of psychology which have appeared in the Journal of Experimental Psychology, the Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis and Teaching and Psychology.
Three C.W. Post professors will be honored for 30 years of service.
Louis Pisha, D.L.S. began his career at C.W. Post as a reference librarian. Today, he is head of the B. Davis Schwartz Memorial Library’s interlibrary loan department, where colleagues call him a master sleuth who helps researchers track down and dig out information. An associate professor, Dr. Pisha’s research interests include history (with a particular emphasis on library history and the history of higher education), geography, the classics and the sciences.
Richard K. White, Ph.D. was a teacher in the New York City public school system and a professor of education at Brooklyn College and Queens College before joining the faculty at C.W. Post in 1976. He was the recipient of the Brentwood Campus of Long Island University’s Excellence in Teaching Award in 1993 and an Outstanding Service Award in 1995.
Dr. White has published several articles in professional journals that focus on contract law, collective bargaining and arbitration for school administrators. He has been the regional representative for a statewide administrators’ association and a consultant to school districts on legal issues.
Lois Tepper, Ph.D. taught at Southampton College of Long Island University until 2005, when she transferred to the C.W. Post Campus. She has received theLong Island University David Newton Award for Excellence in Teaching and the Southampton Student Government Award for Service Above and Beyond and Senior Class Recognition awards. She also served as Southampton’s commencement grand marshal.
Dr. Tepper primarily has taught courses in psychology, but also has taught undergraduate- and graduate-level courses in education and mathematics. She is the founder of the Psychobiology Journal and has been a co-author sponsor of undergraduate papers at conferences addressing comparative animal behavior, and is the advisor to the Psi Chi National Honor Society.
