Open House for Social Work Programs at C.W. Post February 12

Brookville, N.Y. – As a social worker, you can have a positive and meaningful impact on people every day, in a field with growing employment opportunity. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, demand for social workers is expected to increase by 22 percent over the next eight years.

Persons interested in exploring graduate programs leading to a master’s degree in the rewarding field of social work can attend an open house sponsored by the Department of Social Work at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University on Tuesday, February 12, 2008 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Patron’s Lounge at Tilles Center for the Performing Arts on the C.W. Post Campus at 720 Northern Boulevard (Route 25A) in Brookville.

Faculty and advisors will be on hand to answer questions and provide information about degree programs, career opportunities, admissions and financial assistance. Prospective students should contact the Office of Admissions at (516) 299-2900.

Long Island University’s M.S.W. program can be completed in two years at either the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University in Brookville or the Brooklyn Campus of Long Island University and offers three in-demand specializations: Gerontology (either Long-Term Care Administration or Senior Community Service), Alcohol and Substance Abuse or Non-Profit Management. Created in response to specific needs within the community and the field of social work, the program has been accredited by the Council on Social Work Education, signifying that it meets the highest standards of quality and academic excellence. Graduates will be prepared to work with under-served at-risk populations and to fill leadership and administrative positions in a wide variety of organizations throughout the community.
