Palmer School of Library and Information Science Holds Open Houses
for Master’s Degree Program in Manhattan

New York, N.Y. – Thanks to rapidly growing technology and an insatiable need for access to accurate information, the role of the librarian continues to evolve. From preserving rare books to digitizing reference materials, a Master of Science degree in Library and Information Science from the Palmer School of Library and Information Science of Long Island University will prepare you for a career managing information of all kinds.

Professionals interested in learning more about a career in library and information science are invited to attend one of three open houses at the Palmer School’s Manhattan location inside New York University’s Bobst Library in Avery Fisher Center on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2008 from 6 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, March 26 from 6 to 7 p.m. or Thursday, April 24 from 5 to 6 p.m.

Faculty and advisors will be on hand to discuss the Palmer School’s renowned M.S.L.I.S. program, career opportunities, admissions and financial assistance.

The 36-credit master’s degree, accredited by the American Library Association, fuses traditional library science with information science and technology. The program is offered at four locations around the Metropolitan area: the C.W. Post Campus in Brookville; the Brentwood Campus in Brentwood on Long Island; New York University's Bobst Library in Manhattan; and Long Island University's Westchester Graduate Campus at SUNY Purchase College. Courses are taught in the evenings and on weekends and advisors help students create a flexible schedule that works with their jobs and other demands. The Palmer School has the largest number of faculty of any area M.S.L.I.S. program, ensuring small classes and personal attention. Internships provide practical experience in first-rate professional settings.
