At C.W. Post, Graduate Education Leads to Great Careers
For Lauren Vione of East Meadow, going back to school for her master's degree in art education at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University helped moved her to the head of the classroom.
Now an art teacher at Glenwood Landing School in Glen Head, Vione says the knowledge she gained in graduate school at C.W. Post helps her to create a stimulating learning environment for her elementary-age students.
"My experience at C.W. Post was amazing," Vione said. "I felt very prepared going out into the work force, especially in terms of lesson plans and classroom management. And my graduate courses freshened my skills as an artist. I relive my own art education in the classroom."
Master's degree programs at C.W. Post lead to meaningful careers in a wide range of fields. From the AACSB International-accredited Master of Business Administration degree to the widely acclaimed Master of Science in Library and Information Science, C.W. Post graduate programs lead to personal and professional fulfillment.
Vione accepted a position as an art teacher with the North Shore Schools just months after completing her Master of Science in Art Education at C.W. Post in January 2007.
"What I like about art is the creative problem-solving that's involved," she said. "People think that art is just fun and a way to be creative, but there are also a lot of other concepts to be learned, and what's happening in the classroom can be further reinforced in the art room."
More than 70 master's degrees, 53 dual bachelor's/master's degrees, two doctorates, and nearly 20 advanced certificates are offered at C.W. Post's schools of study - the School of Education, the College of Management, the College of Information and Computer Science, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the School of Health Professions and Nursing and the School of Visual and Performing Arts. Most graduate courses at C.W. Post are held evenings and weekends to accommodate working adults.
