Transfer to C.W. Post for Small Classes and Great Degrees Close to Home

Jamie Earley has her sights set on becoming a math teacher when she graduates from C.W. Post.
Some students transfer to the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University because they have become dissatisfied with their original college or university choice and want a more intimate and enriching experience close to home. Others are community college graduates who choose to enroll at C.W. Post to complete their bachelor’s degrees at a private university.

Whatever their reasons, the more than 1,000 students who transfer to C.W. Post each year find financial assistance, personal attention, dedicated professors and the commitment to academic excellence that characterizes a private university education.

“Transferring to C.W. Post after graduating from Suffolk County Community College has been a great way to finish my four-year degree,” said Jamie Earley of North Babylon, N.Y., a mathematics adolescence education major. “The admissions process went very smoothly. The financial assistance is a big help to my family and my professors are great.”

Transfer students receive special attention at C.W. Post through scholarships of up to $15,000 per year, on-the-spot credit evaluation and speedy admissions. C.W. Post values the accomplishments of transfer students, accepting up to 96 credits from other colleges or universities.

Earley signed up for the Joint Admissions program upon enrolling at Suffolk, which provided on-site counseling by C.W. Post academic advisers in her freshman and sophomore years and allowed for a seamless transition from Suffolk to C.W. Post.

“Every spring semester academic advisers from C.W. Post came to Suffolk to meet with the Joint Admission students,” Earley said. “They go over what you should take the following semester to make sure all of your credits will transfer. I felt as though I had a connection to C.W. Post while I was still at Suffolk, and that made it easy to enroll and start my junior year.”

C.W. Post offers more than 150 bachelor’s and dual bachelor’s/master’s degree programs at C.W. Post in such fields as education, business, public service, criminal justice, information and computer science, technology, earth and environmental studies, liberal arts, health professions and nursing and visual and performing arts.

C.W. Post is a leader in experiential education – internships and work-study opportunities that enrich classroom instruction through real-world work experience. The Campus’ award-winning Office of Professional Experience and Career Planning helps students graduate with resumes as well as degrees.

Small classes, distinguished professors and personalized attention are the hallmarks of a C.W. Post education. And with 15 NCAA sports programs, more than 80 student organizations, three on-campus art museums, a recreation center with state-of-the-art fitness equipment and competition-size pool, a three-million-volume library and the excitement of Manhattan just 25 miles away, C.W. Post offers a rich and memorable educational experience.
