Highlights of Joe Shenker's Administration

The C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University has seen enormous growth and prosperity over the past 13 years with Provost Shenker at the helm. From $84 million in renovation and construction to new academic programs to record-breaking freshman enrollment, the Campus has flourished under his dynamic leadership.

1995 – Dr. Joseph Shenker appointed provost of C.W. Post

1995 – Renovations of historic Hutton House begin

1996 – Lorber Hall dedicated

1998 – Seamless admissions agreements signed with Nassau and Suffolk community colleges

1999 – C.W. Post master's level courses expanded to Suffolk Community College

2000 – Internet-ready smart classrooms constructed

2000 – “Turning 2000” conference on new millennium

2000 – Arnold S. Winnick Student Center opens

2001 – C.W. Post is first university on Long Island to install wireless Internet

2001 – Labyrinth opens on south side of Admissions

2002 – Pratt Recreation Center opens

2002 – C.W. Post Community Arboretum opens

2003 – Access Program establish for undeclared majors

2003 – Residence Hall enrollment at capacity

2003 – Winnick House restoration begins

2003 – Engelke/Astoria Federal Savings Lecture Hall opens in Humanities Hall

2004 – C.W. Post celebrates 50 th anniversary

2004 – Grand Duke of Luxembourg visits campus

2004 – Record-breaking freshman enrollment tops 950

2004 – College of Management Center for Learning opens

2004 – Tilles Center for the Performing Arts breaks ground on $15 million renovation

2005 – Kahn Discovery Center opens

2005 – Growing Continuing Education Office relocates headquarters to Greenvale

2005 – Psychology Doctoral Program opens new headquarters in Roslyn

2005 – Southampton College programs transferred to C.W. Post

2006 – Shenker appointed Provost of new Long Island University campus in Riverhead

2006 – Shenker caps freshman class to preserve small class size

2007 – Emergency Notification System launched campus-wide

2007 – Campus sponsors L.I. Brain Bee and CSI Challenge competitions for high schoolers

2008 – Winnick House dedicated

2008 – Renovations begin on historic Admissions Building

2008 – C.W. Post graduates 100,000 th alumnus
