Philanthropist and Business Owner Peter Gibson to
Receive Distinguished Alumni Award at C.W. Post Commencement

Brookville, N.Y. – Peter Gibson, co-president and co-founder of BusinessEdge a successful business and technology consulting firm focused on the communications, media and content, financial services and life sciences industries, will receive the Distinguished Alumni Award at the 50th commencement exercises at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University on Sunday, May 11, 2008.

Gibson's talent, discipline and winning spirit were evident to his professors and coaches during his years at C.W. Post. Gibson was a top student who excelled in computer science. An agile and versatile athlete, he was a starting defensive back for the Pioneer football team for two years and then joined the lacrosse team as a walk-on – an impressive accomplishment, considering he had never played organized lacrosse before.

After graduating from C.W. Post in 1982, Gibson began his career in business and technology at General Electric Co. as a software engineer. He then accepted a sales position at Digital Equipment Corp., a pioneer of the early computer industry. From there, Gibson moved to TRECOM Business Systems Inc., where he rose to the rank of executive vice president of industry services and played an instrumental role in more than doubling revenues, to more than $250 million in only two years.

In 1999, Gibson set out on his own, becoming a co-founder of BusinessEdge Solutions. He currently holds the titles of co-president and co-founder of the company, which is based in New Jersey and has grown to 800 employees and $200 million in sales.

Gibson has been a generous donor to his alma mater, making a number of significant contributions to the Athletic Department. He also is a supporter of Catholic Charities and the Boys & Girls Club of Trenton & Mercer County. Originally from Oceanside, N.Y., Gibson currently resides in Far Hills , N.J. , and is the proud father of 9-year-olds, Stephanie and Kyle.

In recognition of his illustrious career, Gibson will receive the Distinguished Alumni Award from C.W. Post during commencement ceremonies on Sunday, May 11, 2008. Distinguished Alumni Awards are presented to C.W. Post graduates who have achieved professional success and who serve as role models to students.
