Transfer Students Fit Right In at C.W. Post

Generous scholarships, expert counselors and credit for courses taken: no wonder hundreds of students choose to transfer to the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University in Brookville, Nassau County every year.

At C.W. Post, transfer students are eligible for scholarships of up to $14,000. Admissions counselors in C.W. Post’s Transfer Center specialize in meeting the needs of incoming sophomores, juniors and seniors. And C.W. Post will accept up to 96 credits taken at other colleges and universities.

“Admissions has been a breeze and my advisor has been really helpful in coming up with a strategy for scheduling my classes. I really feel that C.W. Post has its act together,” said Giannina Laterza of West Islip, N.Y., who attended college out of state and will start at C.W. Post in September as a nutrition major. “The Transfer Center’s been great,” she added. “I wanted to be sure I was making the right moves and they were very, very helpful.”

More than 800 of the 5,200 undergraduate students at C.W. Post came in as transfer students. Some found that life at a large public university campus wasn’t right for them. Others like the idea of a residential college experience close to home. And many students choose C.W. Post as the place to complete their bachelor’s degrees after graduating from local two-year colleges.

“Transferring to C.W. Post after graduating from Suffolk County Community College has been a great way to finish my four-year degree,” said Jamie Earley of North Babylon, N.Y., a mathematics adolescence education major. “The admissions process went very smoothly. The financial assistance is a big help to my family and my professors are great.”

C.W. Post offers more than 150 bachelor’s and dual bachelor’s/master’s degree programs in such fields as education, business, public service, criminal justice, information and computer science, technology, earth and environmental studies, liberal arts, health professions and nursing and visual and performing arts.

Undergraduate classes average just 20 students, and the ratio of students to professors is a low 15-to-1. The faculty includes more than 300 highly accomplished scholars, researchers, scientists and experts with real-world experience.

The beautiful and secure C.W. Post Campus features outstanding educational, cultural and recreational resources, including the 3-million-volume B. Davis Schwartz Memorial Library; three art galleries; more than 80 clubs and organizations; 15 NCAA sports programs; Pratt Recreation Center, with a full-line fitness room, indoor running track, competition-size pool and health and wellness programs, and the Tilles Center for the Performing Arts.
