The Pierrot Consort is the faculty ensemble-in-residence at C.W. Post and will be joined in concerts at Hillwood Recital Hall on Friday, July 18 and Friday, July 25 by special guest artists Lawrence Dutton, violist of the Emerson String Quartet and Timothy Eddy, cellist of the Orion String Quartet.
The C.W. Post Chamber Music Festival, now in its 27th summer season, will take place July 14 through August 1 at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University in Brookville. This Festival is an intensive three-week program that focuses on the study and performance of the standard chamber music repertoire, and includes a concert series which will feature performances at Tilles Center for the Performing Arts and Hillwood Recital Hall by The Pierrot Consort (The Faculty Ensemble-in-Residence at C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University), special guest artists from the Emerson String Quartet and the Orion String Quartet, over 100 festival participants, the National Youth Orchestra of Canada and the Festival Chamber Orchestra. The Bach/Mendelssohn Connection - a chamber music evening celebrating the musical connection between two famous composers. The Pierrot Consort (Susan Deaver, flute; Dale Stuckenbruck, violin; Veronica Salas, viola; Maureen Hynes, cello; Heawon Kim, piano) will be joined by Special Guest Artist Lawrence Dutton, violist of the Emerson String Quartet. Performance will include J.S. Bach Brandenburg Concerto No. 5 and Mendelssohn Octet in E flat Major for Strings. 8 p.m., Hillwood Recital Hall, C.W. National Youth Orchestra of Canada

The C.W. Post Chamber Music Festival and Tilles Center will host the National Youth Orchestra of Canada with Jacques Lacombe, 2008 Principal Conductor as part of the Festival’s concert series. The National Youth Orchestra of Canada is considered a Canadian treasure, and the NYOC has historically established a reputation as a leading educational training ground of young Canadian musicians and launch pad for some of Canada’s best-known orchestral talent. Its alumni form the core of major Canadian orchestras, while others are members of prominent international orchestras. NYOC’s concert at Tilles Center will present a 2008 commissioned piece by Kelly-Marie Murphy, Prokofiev Scythian Suite and Mahler Symphony No. 1 “Titan.” 8 p.m., Tilles Center for the Performing Arts, C.W.
