Finance Gets Personal: New Business Course at C.W. Post Offers Undergraduates Advice for Living

Brookville, N.Y. – Don’t know a 401K from a 529B? Think life insurance is something you don’t have to worry about until you are at least 50? Not sure how to pay back that $8,000 of credit-card debt you ran up?

A new business elective offered by the Department of Finance in the College of Management at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University offers undergraduates practical, real-life advice on how to manage their personal finances. Topics that will be discussed include information about different types of insurance, investing fundamentals, budgeting, tax planning, personal auto and home equity loans and retirement and estate planning.

“Personal Finance” (FIN 23-001) is open to all majors with no prerequisite. Classes will be held on Thursdays from 2 to 4:50 p.m. The first class begins September 4. For more information, call 516-299-2308.
