C.W. Post Music Professor David Holzman Releases New CD
"Sessions and Shapey: Piano Music" is earning rave reviews

Brookville, N.Y. -- David Holzman, adjunct professor of piano at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University, has recently released "Sessions and Shapey: Piano Music" (Bridge, $17.98) a new CD featuring the music of Ralph Shapey and Roger Sessions.

The CD is receiving strong reviews. Writes reviewer Robert Carl in Fanfare magazine:

"Let it be said that Sessions (or Shapey) simply couldn't have a better advocate and interpreter than David Holzman. This disc is one that elicits the "Wow" response....While a little out of left field, this could be a Want List item for me come year's end."

The recording was recently aired on fine arts and classical radio station WFMT in Chicago on the program "Critical Thinking" and Holzman's interpretation of Shapey masterpiece "21 Variations" has been heard in 250 countries throughout the world as part of an Art of the States broadcast.

Holzman is an active recording artist, recitalist, lecturer and writer. He is currently at work on two more CDs for Bridge. The first is being sponsored by the Stefan Wolpe Society and features the completion of Holzman's Wolpe keyboard survey. The second, funded in part by the Edward Cone Foundation of Princeton University, features Holzman's completion of the Sessions survey as well as a duo with violinist David Bowlin.
