Brookville, NY – The School of Education at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University is sponsoring the 5th Annual “Conference on Elementary-Secondary Teaching & Learning” on Saturday, May 2, 2009 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the Interfaith Center on the C.W. Post Campus, 720 Northern Boulevard in Brookville.
Organized by Dr. Dengting Boyanton, assistant professor in C.W. Post’s Department of Curriculum and Instruction Department, the conference focuses on teaching and learning at both the elementary and secondary school level.
“Unlike traditional conferences, CESTL is student-centered and it strives to provide the best platform for college students to exchange their research findings and discoveries on teaching and learning,” Dr. Boyanton said. “It is a conference of the students, for the students, and by the students.”
This CESTL contains research contributions from the students in three courses: EDI 15A Psychological Perspectives: Teaching & Learning, EDI 17 Psychology & Development of Adolescent Students, and EDI 600 Psychological Foundations of Education from the Curriculum & Instruction Department of the School of Education at C.W. Post Campus.
The conference will showcase research conducted by C.W. Post student-researchers throughout the Spring 2009 semester. It will cover a wide range of topics including motivation, learning environments, peer relationships and learning, gender, parenting and learning, teacher characteristics and learning, identity, intelligence, emotion & learning, learning disabilities, ethnicity and learning, culture and learning, media and learning, and many more.
