Experience Long Island Fringe Festival to Be Held at C.W. Post
Brookville, N.Y. - Long Island's most creative artists and performers will converge on the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University Sept. 25 - 27, 2009 for the Experience Long Island Fringe Festival. Produced by The Artists Group, the event will be held on 15 different venues across the C.W. Post Campus and will feature a number of C.W. Post faculty members and staff.
Daniel Capalbo, Jr., assistant director of the Learning Support Center, will be performing in two short plays, "Poison" and "How to Suck a Million Toes Without Being Electrocuted Once" on Sept. 26 at 5 p.m. and Sept. 27 at 2 p.m. in the Little Theatre. On Sept. 26 at 2 p.m. in the Little Theatre and on Sept. 27 at 1 p.m. in Tilles Center Patron's Lounge, Maria Porter, a professor in the Department of Theatre, Film, Dance & Arts Management, will be performing in "The Space Inside," a piece she created with Bonnie Eckard. Carter Anne McGowan, director of the Arts Management Program will do dramatic readings of "Levittown" in the Great Hall on Sept. 26 at 2 p.m. and Sept. 27 at 1 p.m. The Post Concert Dance Company will showcase the work of 2009 C.W. Post graduates, Gina Allis and Christine Guglia, on Sept. 26 at noon in the Hillwood Commons Lecture Hall and at 2 p.m. on Sept. 27 on Tilles Center’s Mainstage.
Other highlights from the festival include the Long Island Film Festival, "The Isle of Words" -- a presentation by past Poet Laureates from Nassau and Suffolk counties, singer/songwriter Eden White, Mad Cap Dance, Suck It Easy Band and Circle of Dance Repertory Company.
Attendees must purchase an admission bracelet for $5 to enter. Prices for events range from free to $10. Events on Tilles Center Mainstage range from $20 - $40.
