| Post Theatre Company to Represent U.S. at Prestigious Canadian Festival |
| The Post Theatre Company, an award-winning student theatrical troupe based
at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University in Brookville, NY, will
represent the United States at the Festival Suroit in Valleyfield, Quebec,
Canada, taking place April 8 to 13, 2001.
Hosted by the College de Valleyfield, a prestigious conservatory known for its excellent theatre program, and co-sponsored by the International Association for University Theatre, the festival will showcase companies from Quebec as well as companies from France, Belgium, Holland, Venezuela, Romania, Algeria and Yugoslavia. Students in the Post Theatre Company will have the opportunity to present its play "The Iphigenia Project," share in master classes and workshops, meet young theater artists from other countries, and see a variety of performances by international thespians. C.W. Post faculty member Maria Porter and Cara Gargano will teach workshops along with faculty from the visiting international companies. Twenty-six members of the Post Theatre Company will travel to Valleyfield, just south of Montreal, to participate in this unique festival dedicated to fostering new collaborative opportunities and cultural exchanges for emerging theatre professionals. |
