| C.W. Post Business Program Earns Elite AACSB Accreditation | ||
The C.W. Post Campus joins an elite group of colleges and universities that are AACSB accredited. There are only about 400 institutions in the world that offer AACSB-accredited programs. AACSB is considered one of higher educations most rigorous accrediting bodies, stressing quality, academic excellence and commitment to continuous improvement. To achieve accreditation, the College of Management underwent an extensive eight-year self-evaluation of all aspects of its services and academic programs. The College added new courses and majors in international business and management information systems, hired additional faculty experts in international business, and built computerized "smart classrooms." The College also founded three resource centers for student and public benefit -- the International Trade Research Institute, the Center for Financial Markets Research, and Logistics Management Institute. In February 2001, the AACSB Peer Review Team visited C.W. Post and evaluated all aspects of the College of Managements business programs. Using stringent criteria, the AACSB rated the curriculum, degree requirements, student resources, technology, faculty performance, testing mechanisms, and the mission and objectives set forth by the College of Management. According to Robert J. Sanator, Ph.D., dean of the College of Management, the AACSB accreditation enhances the value of its undergraduate and graduate degree programs and is the stamp of approval that employers seek in recruits. "The accreditation moves the school into an elite ranking world-wide and is a validation of our strong commitment to a faculty of outstanding scholar-teachers, comprehensive career placement services, and strong academic programs with an international focus." Dr. Sanator, an engineer and former executive in the aerospace and high-technology industries, has headed the College of Management since 1991. "This is one of the most difficult accreditations to secure," said Long Island University President Dr. David J. Steinberg. "It can be accomplished only by offering the highest quality in business management education and we applaud the dedication and hard work of the faculty, staff and students of the College of Management. Its dynamic evidence of the renaissance thats underway across the university." The College of Management offers the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with majors in finance, international business, marketing, management and management information systems. It also offers the Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree with concentrations in general business, finance, international business, logistics & supply chain management, management, management information systems and marketing.
