Freshman Class is Largest
in 3 Years
This September 1996, C.W. Post welcomed 729 freshman, the largest freshman
class in three years. That figure represents a 6% increase over last year's
class.
In addition, students transferring from other colleges to C.W. Post is up
22.9% from two years ago.
University officials attribute the growth to the construction of several
new technology-intense facilities; the campus' nationally respected career
placement center for students in Cooperative Education, which has a virtually
100% job placement record; enhanced scholarship and financial aid assistance;
and the introduction of nine new degree programs in the last 15 months.
"Reports from my counterparts at other colleges across the country
indicate that their freshman enrollments are flat or up just slightly,"
said Gary R. Bergman, the new Associate Provost for Enrollment Services.
"In that context, an increase of more than 40 first-year students from
last year is significant."
