Barnes and Noble Presents Book Store Awards to C.W. Post Students

November 2, 1998 -- Five students from the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University in Brookville recently received C.W. Post Book Store Awards of $300 each to help pay for textbooks and school supplies. The monetary awards are sponsored by the well-known Barnes and Noble bookstore chain.

The winners are Mary McCarthy of Flushing, an art therapy major; Kerry McManus of Mebane, NC, a communication arts major; Erica Bandow of Locust Valley, a sociology major; Elisamuel Dejesus of Deer Park, an art major; and Lillian Finelli of Huntington, a psychology major.

The Campus bookstore, which is run by Barnes and Noble, initiated the program to assist C.W. Post students who receive limited institutional financial aid. To be eligible for the award, students must also demonstrate a commitment to higher education, academic achievement and financial need. "We are so proud to be able to provide the tools necessary for these students to succeed," said Jennifer Losordo, Manager of the C.W. Post Campus Bookstore.

"Our students are extraordinarily hardworking and many juggle their school work with part-time and full-time jobs to help cover college costs," said Dr. Pamela Lennox, Associate Provost for Campus Services at C.W. Post. "We hope these monetary awards will make achieving their dreams a little easier."
