November 1998 -- Two business students from the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University in Brookville recently received scholarships of $5,000 each given by EAB (European American Bank), headquartered in Uniondale, Long Island.

The winners are Nikki Buono of Island Park, a senior majoring in business administration and marketing, and Marco Cucci of Wantagh, a junior majoring in business administration.

EAB, with branches throughout Nassau and Suffolk Counties as well as New York City, initiated the scholarship program to assist C.W. Post students who demonstrate a strong interest in business careers, academic achievement and financial need.

"Our students are extraordinarily hardworking and many juggle their school work with part-time and full-time jobs to help cover college costs," said Dr. Joe Shenker, Provost of the campus. "These scholarships will make it easier for these students to achieve their dreams of entering today's highly competitive business world."

According to Edward Travaglianti, Chairman and CEO of EAB and a trustee of Long Island University, "The retention of Long Island's best and brightest young people is one of the most critical issues facing our area. EAB is committed to doing all that we can to support education and foster a healthy economic future for the communities we serve. Long Island University and the C.W. Post Campus do a great job of preparing their students for productive careers, and we're pleased to be able to assist. Together, we hope that these scholarships will help the students who receive them to decide to remain on Long Island as they pursue their futures."

EAB, with assets of $12 billion, is a wholly own subsidiary of ABN AMBO Bank N.V., the world's eighth largest bank.
