Conference: "The Global Economy and Your Business"


Renowned international trade experts will offer insight into the global economy's affect on regional businesses at the conference, "The Global Economy and Your Business," on Wednesday, May 19, 1999 at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University.

The conference - which is being held in honor of World Trade Month - is sponsored by the International Trade Research Institute of the College of Management at C.W. Post in conjunction with the Long Island Import Export Association. The conference is also sponsored by Olympus America Inc. and will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Gold Coast Room, C.W. Post Campus, Northern Boulevard (Route 25A) in Brookville, NY.

The keynote speaker is Rosanne M. Cahn, chief economist for the Equity Department of the Credit Suisse First Boston Corporation, a prominent investment banking firm. She will discuss, "Disspansion - We Can Have Global Growth with Low Inflation." Cahn has 25 years experience as a Wall Street economist and has worked for Goldman, Sachs & Co.

Other speakers include:

  • Noriyasu Yamada, president, Japan External Trade Organization-New York: "Business Conditions in Japan: Their Impact on Asia."
  • Roy DeCicco, Esq., vice president and senior product manager in the Treasury Solutions Group at Chase Manhattan Bank: "The Outlook for Euroland: Is a Slowdown Imminent?"
  • Pearl M. Kamer, Ph.D., director of the C.W. Post International Trade Research Institute and Chief Economist for the Long Island Association: "Developing a New Global Financial Infrastructure: The Challenges Ahead."

The conference is free and the public is invited to attend. Reservations are required.
