C.W. Post's Cooperative Education Society
Wins National Award

The Xi Chapter of Kappa Theta Epsilon - the Cooperative Education Honor Society at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University in Brookville, NY - was recently awarded the 1999 Chapter of the Year Award by the KTE national convention at Texas A&M University.

Representing C.W. Post at the convention were Danielle Morbillo, an accounting major from Mount Sinai, NY who also serves as chapter treasurer, and Debbie Hresko of Bellport, NY chapter secretary who is also an accounting major. The award was based on the accomplishments of the chapter over the past year, which include writing and ratifying a constitution for the chapter, organizing a drive to collect food and clothing for hurricane victims in Honduras, serving as ambassadors of cooperative education by speaking to freshmen during Welcome Week, and networking with employers during the Annual Career Fair.

"We are very proud to receive the first annual Chapter of the Year Award for our accomplishments, and we are particularly proud of our students' efforts during the Honduras drive," said Jeanette Grill, director of the cooperative education program in C.W. Post's Professional Experience and Placement office. "We are looking forward to moving forward with our goals for next year, which include gaining involvement from more members, building upon our ambassadorship program, and recruiting a local campus to join KTE."

C.W. Post's nationally respected Cooperative Education program places students in paid, professional positions in their field of study. These jobs, called co-ops, allow students to gain real work experience and build a resume before graduation. Almost every student who participates in the Co-op Program at C.W. Post has landed a job or enrolled in graduate schools within six months of graduation. For more information call the PEP office at (516) 299-2435 or visit their web site at www.liu.edu/pep
