C.W. Post Offers New Course in
Computer Imaging for the Contractor
The School of Continuing Studies at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island
University in Brookville is offering a new course as part of its certificate
program in Residential Construction Management.
Without lifting a hammer, "Computer Imaging for the Contractor"
launches construction experts into cyberspace where they can learn to build
three dimensional models in two dimensional space. With the click of a
mouse, students using DesignWare computer imaging software can change colors,
textures and physical structures on general remodeling or home improvement
projects. These important computer skills will allow contractors to present
several options to customers and show them a completed project on demand.
Classes will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. for five sessions beginning Wednesday,
October 6, 1999. This course can also be taken toward the Certificate in
Residential Construction Management, which includes three core courses:
Residential Construction Estimating; Residential Blue Print Reading; and
Residential Construction and Production Management. Students must also
take two of three elective courses: Computer Imaging for the Contractor;
10 Hour Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA) Standards; or Uniform Building
and Fire Codes - Your Responsibility as a Contractor.
Another certificate program - "Home Inspection" - has two
core courses: Residential Home Inspection and Report Writing, Contracts
and Legal Issues; any four of the following five elective courses may be
applied to the certificate: Residential Electrical Inspection; Residential
HVAC Inspection; Residential Plumbing Inspection; or Residential Environmental
Issues and Inspection; and Building Codes. Courses may also be taken individually.
