C.W. Post Offers Business Seminars
for Budding Entrepreneurs


Thinking about starting your own business and being your own boss? The Entrepreneurial Studies/Business Development program offered by the School of Continuing Studies at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University in Brookville is designed to encourage individuals to pursue their own business ventures. Seminars for the fall 1999 semester run on two consecutive Saturdays, September 25 and October 2. Workshops include:

  • Making it in Your Own Business: Are you the type of person who should go into your own business? This seminar offers a step-by-step guide to identifying personal characteristics needed to begin your venture the right way and succeed. September 25, 9 a.m. to noon.
  • How to be a Successful Consultant: How to begin a profitable part- or full-time consulting business. Additional issues include how to market your ideas, establish credibility, and enjoy personal and financial success. September 25, 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.
  • The ABCs of Mail Order: Separate the myths from reality and outline the basics of product selection, legal considerations, mail order strategies and copywriting techniques. October 2, 9 a.m. to noon.
  • How to Make Your Advertising Really Work for You: Creative ideas on effective public relations, publicity and advertising strategies to make your business venture more profitable. October 2, 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.

The Entrepreneurial Studies/Business Development program is coordinated by Jack Mandel, professor of marketing, recipient of the prestigious NYSATYC "Outstanding Teacher Award" and contributor to numerous professional trade publications.
