Medford Resident Eric Wade Named NYSCCEA Student of the Year

Medford resident Eric Wade, a May 1999 graduate of the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University in Brookville, is the winner of the New York State Cooperative and Experiential Education Association (NYSCCEA) Student of the Year Award. The award was presented on September 30, 1999 at the NYSCCEA annual conference.

Eric received the award for his outstanding work as president of the C.W. Post Chapter of Kappa Theta Epsilon (KTE), the National Co-op Honor Society. While he was president, Eric also led the organization from an honorary organization to a service-oriented organization that has helped spread the word about co-op at C.W. Post. Under Eric's leadership, the C.W. Post Chapter of KTE won national acclaim as the 1999 "Chapter of the Year."

Eric received his bachelor's degree in accounting as a non-traditional student while participating in three co-ops in distinct areas of accounting. "My experiences provided by my co-op placements proved invaluable," he said. "Co-op provided me with the opportunity to develop into a confident professional."

C.W. Post's Cooperative Education program is run through its Professional Experience and Placement Office. Co-op is a program that integrates classroom learning with paid work experience. Through co-op, students build resumes, explore careers, establish business contacts through networking and earn money to defray the cost of college education.
