C.W. Post Virtual Career Fair Brings Together
Companies and Job Seekers On-line

With the opportunity of the Internet and its ease of accessibility, on-line job searching has become one of the primary vehicles for individuals looking for employment. In keeping pace with this trend, the Professional Experience and Placement Office (PEP) at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University in Brookville has jumped on the technological bandwagon to offer more services and information to students via the Internet.

This December, PEP will launch a Virtual Career Fair, where students and graduates of C.W. Post can explore "virtual booths" which contain information about job openings and career options with a variety of companies. In turn, participating companies can access an on-line resume database to locate qualified prospective employees. The Fair will be accessible 24 hours a day via a button on the PEP website (www.liu.edu/pep) from December 1 to 15. A spring Virtual Career Fair is slated for March 2000.

According to Jeanette Grill, director of PEP, the Virtual Career Fair is an extension of the many career services offered through her office. "For years, our office has enjoyed one of the highest job placement rates in the nation. Our new Virtual Career Fair will facilitate the networking experience for our students while assisting businesses from every sector find suitable candidates for their organizations."
