C.W. Post Bachelor's Degree in Social Work Receives Accreditation from CSWE

The Bachelor's Degree program in Social Work at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University in Brookville has received special accreditation by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).

Established in 1994, the B.S. in Social Work has quickly become one of C.W. Post's most popular majors within the College of Management's School of Health Care and Public Administration. According to program director Ilene Nathanson, DSW, BCD, the Social Work program attracts undergraduate students who are interested in obtaining the knowledge, practice and research skills to be competent professionals committed to enhancing the well being of those they serve. In addition to providing the beginning student with an orientation to the practice of social work with individuals, groups, families, organizations and communities, the program prepares students to work in a wide variety of client systems and settings with diverse populations as they promote social and economic justice.

"After successfully completing the program, our students can qualify for advanced placement consideration at the graduate level if they decide to continue in that direction," said Dr. Nathanson, highlighting the unique aspects of the program. "With a strong emphasis on teacher-student collaboration, seminar-style classes and community service with local agencies, the program transforms high caliber students into outstanding practicing professionals."

The program offers students access to C.W. Post's Center on Aging and Center on Management Analysis, both of which are affiliated with the Department of Health Care and Public Administration within C.W. Post's College of Management. They provide students with opportunities for research and linkages with the professional community.
