Rita Langdon Promoted to Assistant Provost/Director
of Public Relations at C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University
Rita Langdon, director of public relations for the C.W. Post
Campus of Long Island University in Brookville since 1994, was
recently promoted to assistant provost/director of public relations.
In this new position, Langdon will be responsible for public
and media relations, internal communications and developing campus
publications as well as the creation of special campus-wide events,
the coordination of community relations initiatives, and support
of the campus's activities in seeking new populations of students.
She will continue to strategize the campus's global image, articulate
campus needs in university advertising campaigns, contribute
to the Long Island University Magazine, and facilitate
campus unity through campus-based programs.
A graduate of C.W. Post, Langdon received a bachelor's degree
in journalism and master's degree in English. Prior to joining
C.W. Post in 1991, Langdon served as editor of the Hicksville
Illustrated News, part of the Anton Community Newspaper Group
in Mineola, where she was responsible for all aspects of community
news reporting. As editor, Langdon increased the subscriber base
eight-fold. She joined C.W. Post in 1991 as chief news writer
and was promoted to associate director of public relations in
1992.
A member of numerous campus committees -- such as the Turning
2000 Millennium Conference and the C.W. Post Council of Overseers
-- Langdon also maintains professional memberships in several
organizations, including the Public Relations Professionals of
Long Island and the Writers Network of Long Island.
