Rita Langdon Promoted to Assistant Provost/Director of Public Relations at C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University

Rita Langdon, director of public relations for the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University in Brookville since 1994, was recently promoted to assistant provost/director of public relations.

In this new position, Langdon will be responsible for public and media relations, internal communications and developing campus publications as well as the creation of special campus-wide events, the coordination of community relations initiatives, and support of the campus's activities in seeking new populations of students. She will continue to strategize the campus's global image, articulate campus needs in university advertising campaigns, contribute to the Long Island University Magazine, and facilitate campus unity through campus-based programs.

A graduate of C.W. Post, Langdon received a bachelor's degree in journalism and master's degree in English. Prior to joining C.W. Post in 1991, Langdon served as editor of the Hicksville Illustrated News, part of the Anton Community Newspaper Group in Mineola, where she was responsible for all aspects of community news reporting. As editor, Langdon increased the subscriber base eight-fold. She joined C.W. Post in 1991 as chief news writer and was promoted to associate director of public relations in 1992.

A member of numerous campus committees -- such as the Turning 2000 Millennium Conference and the C.W. Post Council of Overseers -- Langdon also maintains professional memberships in several organizations, including the Public Relations Professionals of Long Island and the Writers Network of Long Island.
