34th Annual Poetry Contest at C.W. Post Campus


January 5, 2000 - Students, faculty, staff and alumni of the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University are invited to submit their original unpublished poems to the 34th Annual Poetry Contest, sponsored by the C.W. Post Poetry Center, the English Department, the Academy of American Poets, and Poets & Writers.

One undergraduate poet will receive the John and Agnes McCarten Memorial Award of $100; four $75 awards will go to the best poems in the following categories: graduate, alumni, faculty and staff.

Deadline for submission is February 18, 2000. The Poetry Awards night will be held April 13, 2000 and will feature Molly Peacock reading her poetry and presenting the awards. The winning poems will be printed in the evening's program and the winners will read their poems to the audience at the ceremony.

Poems should be delivered to the Poetry Contest boxes in the English Department, Humanities Hall, or mailed to: Poetry Contest Boxes, English Department, C. W. Post Campus of Long Island University, 720 Northern Blvd., Brookville, NY 11548-1300. All winners will be notified by mail.
