Interfaith Symposium at C.W. Post to Open Cultural Dialogue
Sr. Helen Prejean of "Dead Man Walking" to Speak


The Sophia Center will host an interfaith symposium on Sunday, April 30, 2000 that will feature renowned authors Sr. Helen Prejean ("Dead Man Walking") and Patrick Cahill ("How the Irish Saved Civilization"). The event is open to the public and will take place in Hillwood Commons on the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University in Brookville from 1 to 6 p.m.

The Sophia Center is an interfaith organization dedicated to promoting mindful discussion on significant issues affecting the Long Island community. For the past two years, Sophia has drawn together men and women interested in contemporary culture on a variety of issues, such as film and the motion picture industry, the electronic media, and art and music.

The April 30 symposium will feature open discussion about how religious traditions affect medical care, the law, spirituality, journalism, education, social work and technology and business. Additional guests include Rabbi Joshua Gutoff, Jewish Chaplain at the C.W. Post Campus, and Dr. Yassin El-Anouty, Esq.
