Vladimir Fainzilberg Earns Trustees Award
for Scholarly Achievement
July 6, 2000 - Vladimir Fainzilberg, a professor of chemistry
at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University in Brookville,
N.Y., was recently awarded a Long Island University Trustees
Award for Scholarly Achievement (TASA) at the 22nd annual awards
ceremony. The TASA Award is bestowed in recognition of the professional
contributions of Long Island University's professors throughout
its six campuses in the New York metropolitan area. Dr. Fainzilberg's
achievements in the field of chemistry have been numerous and
noteworthy.
A native of the Ukrainian Republic, Dr. Fainzilberg joined
the Department of Molecular and Chemical Physics at the Moscow
Institute of Physics and Technology in 1969. He earned his M.S.
in quantum and theoretical chemistry in 1975, the same year he
was appointed research associate in the Institute of Genetics
of the Academy of Sciences of the Moldavian Republic. In 1976,
he joined the cluster chemistry group at the Institute of Chemistry
of the Academy of Sciences, and in 1981, earned his Ph.D. in
theoretical and mathematical physics from Kishinev State University.
Since joining its faculty in 1992, Dr. Fainzilberg has brought
tremendous depth to C.W. Post's Chemistry Department. His research
is focused mainly on magnetochemistry radiospectroscopy of exchange
clusters consisting of transition and rare-earth ions. His research
has been summarized in 36 articles, one monographic review and
numerous conference proceedings. He has received more than 100
scientific citations.
