C.W. Post Students Receive $5,000 Scholarship from
GEICO Insurance Company

June 22, 2000 - Two students from the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University in Brookville recently received scholarships of $2,500 each, awarded by the GEICO Insurance Company. The scholarships, named for Leo Goodwin, recognize excellence in co-op job performance. The recipients are Andrew Papantoniou, a management major who will graduate in December 2001; and Ionel Rizea-Nenu, a finance major who will graduate in May 2002.

Both students are performing internships in the Call Center of a regional office of GEICO Insurance Company. Their responsibilities range from discussing payment options with potential customers to importing insurance data. They are well respected by the staff of GEICO Insurance Company and have an excellent work ethic. "When the 12-week program is over, we would like to keep them on in different areas of the company," said one GEICO supervisor.

C.W. Post's nationally respected Cooperative Education Program places students in paid, professional positions in their field of study. These jobs, called co-ops, allow students to gain real work experience and build a resume before graduation. Almost every student who participates in the Co-op Program at C.W. Post has landed a job or enrolled in graduate school within six months of graduation. For more information, call the C.W. Post Professional Experienced and Placement office at (516) 299-2435 or visit their web site at www.liu.edu/pep.
