Hillwood Art Museum features "Eriberto Guidi: Square Fields"

The Hillwood Art Museum at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University
will present an exhibition of photographs by contemporary Italian photographer Eriberto Guidi. The exhibit, titled "Eriberto Guidi: Square Fields," will be on display from September 5 through November 12, 2000.

Guidi's black and white photographic images use the play of shadows on scenic landscapes to evoke nature's essence. Shadows and light, rather than the actual landscape, are the focal point of his high contrast images. Guidi, who was born and continues to live in Italy's Marche region, says of his landscapes, "They are never still or motionless, even when you try to fix their shape on film." The exhibition will be accompanied by English Romantic verse to enhance the poetic and natural elements of Guidi's work.

An opening reception will be held Tuesday, September 12, 2000 from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Museum. This exhibition will be accompanied by a lecture, "Important Photographs of the Twentieth Century," presented by C.W. Post Professor Peter Moriarty on Tuesday, September 19 at 7 p.m. in the Museum. For a preview of this exhibit, please visit www.metonimia.com or www.liu.edu/museum. The exhibition and its events are free and open to the public.
