C.W. Post Students Achieve 100% Pass Rate
on National Exam
Undergraduates enrolled at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University
in Brookville, New York, again, had a 100% pass rate on the 1997 national
certification exam in radiologic technology, according to the American Registry
of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
The C.W. Post School of Health Professions in Brookville offers New York
State's only entry level baccalaureate program in Radiologic Technology.
Upon satisfactory completion of the bachelor of science degree program in
Radiologic Technology, students are eligible to take the NewYork State Department
of Health examination in Radiologic Technology and the American Registry
of Radiologic Technologists examination. Graduates of the C.W. Post program
are employed nationally as clinicians, administrators, educators and corporate
representatives in various areas of the health care industry.
Courses in medical imaging, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging
and breast imaging, supplemented by human cross sectional anatomy in prosection,
liberal arts, management and education have helped to build a well-rounded
professional foundation, according to Dr. Ellen Duffy, Associate Dean of
the School of Health Professions. "In classrooms, laboratories and
through internships in major health-care facilities, students are provided
with outstanding educational experiences that prepare them for medical imaging
practice," she said. The breast imaging component of the program is
one of few that have been found to be acceptable by the Department of Health
and Human Services Food and Drug Administration to satisfy the initial educational
requirement under the Mammography Quality Standards Act of 1992.
