Local Teens Speak Out on Violence and Dating

Local high school students are invited to participate in the Seventh Annual Teen Speakout Day on Tuesday, March 24, 1998 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University, Brookville. Teens will present their views and discuss date rape, sexual pressures, harassment and abusive/healthy relationships.

Featured guest speakers will include a group of students from Elmont Memorial High School and Oyster Bay High School who have actively lectured on preventing date rape, sexual pressure, harassment and abusive/healthy relationships. Discussions will be led by a panel of professionals in the fields of psychology, education, law enforcement and substance abuse.

Pre-registration is required and space is limited. Every 10 students must be accompanied by at least two advisors from their school. Admission is $10 per person. This program is sponsored by Psychological Services Center at C.W. Post and the Elmont Memorial High School Peer Helpers Association, with assistance from the Nassau County Youth Board.
